In “It Ends with Us”, the main character is Lily Bloom who is a young woman who did everything to establish herself in Boston. From her past, one may not look at Lily and see a poor struggling mother, but her focus is on the new day. But as the show goes on and their feeling evolve love and affection, problem of Ryle’s non commitment and secret life surface.

A novel by Stephanie Perkins is centered around a protagonist Lily, who starts experiencing a new relationship, but she is bothered by the memories of her first boyfriend Atlas Corrigan. Atlas was her guardian and most of all her friend but fate separated them. When Atlas turns up in Lily’s life again she finds herself faced with questions about Ryle and their relationship.

Reading Experience

Right from the prologue, It Ends With Us why it ages me dragged me to the narrative and did not let go. It is very hard to put the book down and I found Colleen Hoover’s writing style quite inspiring and passionate. There isn’t a rush of events which build up tension and then stop abruptly, but at the same time there are no long monotonous sections that would make the readers lose touch with Lily’s character.

This novel is interesting in that it contains a blatant topic of a husband’s violent abuse of his wife. In this sensitive issue Hoover ensures that she gives a conceptual portrayal that accords with reality in as much as detailing the strengths required in escaping such relationships.

Character Analysis

Lily Bloom is a well developed perfectly characterized likable character – a real heroine. Because of her behavior in the story and her strength and willingness to keep going regardless of the pain she is in and the hardships she has been through, she is realistic and interesting. Hoover does an excellent job of following Lily’s character development as the protagonist of the story and as she finds the strength to overcome her situation and free herself.

Ryle Kincaid is quite a rich and interesting character, who has many sides or aspects in him. In the beginning, he is pleasant and employs sweet talk, but this turns out to be a sign of the beast within him; the author does a good job in that aspect of painting real people. This shows and proves the nature of human interaction and why it may be quite hard to admit and break a damaging cycle like the one shared by Lily and Ryle.

Themes and Messages

In “It Ends with Us”, there are several deep topics that are explored, such as the effects that childhood trauma has on a person and the cycle of abuse. Hoover also teaches a reader how the past experiences define the present relationships and the necessity to free oneself from toxic behavior.

The novel also delves a lot into the survivor strength and this equally describes the courage that one has to muster to leave a partner who is abusive and start a new life. Following the same line of thought, therefore, Hoover is trying to motivate his readers and assure them that they are not alone and that there is always an escape.

Comparison and Context

”It Ends with Us” is an exceptional novel within the contemporary romance mainstream for being a honest depiction of some issues. Although it could be read as a love story, the novel avoids clichés characteristic for romance novels, providing the reader with a sophisticated mix of love for the chosen one and hatred as a protagonist’s love interests possess many traits of evil alternatively.

Colleen Hoover is the author with substantial tendencies towards the creation of the emotional and evoking novels and “It Ends with Us” does not oppose this statement. It reaffirms her as a territory setter who narrates complex themes and develops characters by which many can relate to.

Conclusion

Through “It Ends with Us,” readers will be furnished with necessary life lessons as well as a harrowing account that anyone who reads this book will not easily forget. Colleen Hoover is not only an excellent writer capable of weaving a bitter-sweet plot but she is also an activist raising people’s awareness of domestic violence issues and the process of escaping it.

This book is perfect for readers who like to read books with passion, have an interest in characters’ development, and have deep ideas blown into their head. Despite the description of abuse, “It Ends with Us” is one of the most essential reads to embrace the beauty of a real and meaningful narrative.
